- Elevate your legs: Most of the pain experienced with shin splints is due to the swelling of the muscles this is why elevating your legs so that they are above the level of your heart is another very simple way of reducing swelling.
There is one other thing you can do and this is purely a personal preference and that is to take a painkiller such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.
